Since I started this blog, it has been a rollercoaster ride of changes. There have been many days when I wondered if it was worth it to continue or if I should just set it aside, focus more on my photography. My original hopes for writing were to teach my readers what I know with photography, to take them on a journey. Soon enough, however, I got sucked into the void of views, wishing to gain more traction and hoping to have thousands of people reading what I wrote. With this in mind, I chose to write daily and, after a while, publish daily.
Not much changed.
Yes, I gained another subscriber or two on my newsletter and I almost hit 700 views last month. This month won’t be the same, for reasons unbeknownst to me. Regardless, I know that I wish to continue writing. And while my writings have gone from educational to what I hope are inspirational, I believe I wish to change that.
With this being said, I simply wanted to inform you of a few changes that will be happening in the coming weeks. As I have plenty of inspirational writings saved on my flash drive that I wish to not go to waste, I have created an account on Medium, an online blogging site where thousands of writers share their work. Although I had not known if I wanted to continue with this website – nor did I know what I wanted to write on it in the first place – I believe I have figured it out.
On my Medium account – which can be found here – I will be posting tons of older content along with new writings. These will, for the most part, be inspirational articles. Furthermore, I plan on creating a new newsletter for these writings, but until then, feel free to sign up for the current one here.
In terms of this blog, I hope to turn it into a place where people can come to learn photography. While I originally had planned on “teaching” only landscape photography – as it is my niche and therefore my area of “expertise” – I have decided to expand on that and focus on photography as a whole. Therefore, the weekly newsletter will be based more heavily on photography, including a ten-day, ten tip mini-workshop which is to be released soon.
So, what does this mean, you ask?
Well for starters, I will be reducing the number of posts on here down to one a week. I still have high hopes of an interview once per month, and the other three weeks will be filled in informational – and still inspirational – writings revolving around my craft. These will either teach you something directly, such as How to Take Amazing Images of the Sea, or they will take you on a journey with me.
Past that, I have no idea if this will last. It may come to a point where I revert back to daily – or bi-weekly – postings of inspirational and photographical articles. I truly do not know. However, this is what I hope to be doing for the time being.
And for those asking why I plan on reducing this down to weekly writing, it is so that I can really dive in to the topics I wish to teach you of and provide you with all of the information possible.
Please expect there to be some minor delays in posting as I write up new articles and figure everything out. This also means that, for the time being, I will be posting whatever content I have on-hand on a weekly basis, despite it not necessarily fitting with the new changes.
If you guys have any questions about this, please feel free to contact me and I will my best to answer.
Thank you all for the continued support as I try and figure out what it is I wish to do with myself and my website.
