Every so often I get bored and find myself scrolling through Instagram’s explore page. Scratch that – I do it every night. Today was no exception. As I was scrolling through, I found myself watching videos from artists, entranced by the beautiful creations they were making before my very eyes. And I began thinking to myself, somewhat dangerously…
I could never do that…at least not without making a ton of mistakes
But the truth of the matter is that I can do what all these artists were doing. Whether it be amazing drawings of superheroes or making beautiful pots with clay or even throwing some gun powder on a piece of paper and igniting it to make some cool-looking creation. I can do all of it, if I wanted to, if I tried hard enough.
I think back to when I first started creating phtographs and how I thought that I would never be able to create work like Ansel Adams and those other masters of the same craft. And while I am still nowhere near as great as they were – are – I am actively working on getting there. Without a doubt, I am a lot better at it than I was when I first began.
Oh yeah, and in terms of that last part, about making mistakes – allow me to let you in on a little secret.
Nobody is perfect
